Featuring at the Olympics is a dream come true for any athlete, even more so if they can make as many appearances as is for Shadir Musa Bwogi.
Bwogi, 26, was amidst protest from the Uganda Boxing Federation, included in the Bombers squad headed to Senegal for the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers.
“I am not interested in politicking because whatever is happening is God’s plan, which can’t be stopped anyway. I have had pro fights and am in the right shape for the qualifiers in Senegal.”
Bwogi, who captained the Bombers at the Tokyo Olympics, including Catherine Nanziri and David Ssemujju, was eliminated by Georgia’s Eskerkhan Madiev in the round of 16, losing 3-1.
After that, he ventured into professional boxing after falling out with UBF over “unfair” boxing Champions League contracts in 2021.
Bwogi has since gone on to have five professional bouts, winning all of them, while David Ssemujju has gone on to have four bouts and won them all, too.
