Former Vice-President Specioza Wandira Kazibwe is recovering after sustaining injuries in a road accident on December 1.
The incident occurred along the Kayunga-Njeru road at approximately 5:30 p.m. in Wakisi village, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District.
Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson, said the accident involved a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (registration number UG 2372M) driven by Kayongo Fred, a Mukono resident.
Preliminary reports suggest that a front tyre burst caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and crashed into an electric pole.
Dr. Kazibwe and her grandson, Igapira Louis Wandira, who were in the vehicle, sustained injuries and were promptly rushed to Jinja Hospital.
Medical staff are closely monitoring their condition.
The vehicle remains at the scene pending towing, while police continue their investigations into the accident.
Further updates will follow as more details emerge.
